Injection moulding

Injection moulding is a production technique in which a liquid plastic is injected under high pressure into a mould (die). After demoulding the product, post-processing such as drilling, tapping and deburring is almost never necessary. This is the case with aluminium casting.
In addition to this basic form of injection moulding, VDL Kunststoffen also offers a number of other specialities in the field of injection moulding.

2K injection moulding

VDL Kunststoffen is the specialist in 2-component injection moulding. Here, two materials are combined in one mould. For example, materials with several different properties or materials in two different colours or hard-soft combinations. The chemical bonding of both materials occurs because they fuse together or because the first component is constructed in such a way that the second component attaches mechanically. Sometimes it is desired that the two materials do not adhere to each other. This allows you to ‘assemble’ parts in the mould without play. Our specialists will be happy to advise you on the best way to achieve this.

Insertmoulding

This involves inserting steel, brass, aluminium, zinc alloy or standard parts automatically or manually into a mould and coating them with plastic. This makes it possible to combine the properties of the insert with the properties of plastic. A speciality of VDL Kunststoffen is the overmoulding of ball bearings and the overmoulding of steel cables.

Automation

Almost all our machines are equipped with robots to avoid extra labour for packaging and removal. Together with specialised suppliers, VDL Kunststoffen also develops product-specific automation for assembly and/or post-processing

Machinery

Our injection moulding department has 50 injection moulding machines from 25 to 1,700 tonnes clamping force, including 6 2-K injection moulding machines from 140 to 1,000 tonnes clamping force. The machinery is well maintained and old inefficient machines are replaced. Our machines come from Europe (Germany and Austria) as standard, ensuring high quality.
