VDL Kunststoffen processes more than 200 different thermoplastics ranging from bulk raw materials such as PP, PE and ABS to high-performance raw materials such as PPS. We also process many types of thermoplastic rubber such as TPE, TPU and TPFE. Because each product has different requirements such as chemical resistance, mechanical load, cosmetic aspects and operating temperature, good advice on the plastic to be used is of great importance. VDL Kunststoffen has specialists who will be happy to advise you which plastic is best for your application.
To optimise the properties of the basic plastic, many additives are used, the most well-known being:
- UV stabilisers
- Glass fibres
- Glass balls
- Carbon fibre
- Aramid fibres
- Molybdenum sulphide
- PTFE
An important property of plastics is that they are usually easy to colour. Our machines are equipped with colouring equipment where granules of dye are dosed and added to the basic raw material. At high annual volumes, the plastics are often purchased coloured. Virtually all colours are possible: from Signal Red to fluorescent yellow to metallic colours. All our pigments are naturally free of cadmium.
