Fittra, feeding system for chicks

VDL Kunststoffen played a substantial role in developing the Fittra feeding system to meet the needs of modern poultry farming: excelling in user-friendliness, efficiency and easy cleaning. Feed losses should be minimised and feed distribution optimised.

True masterpiece

The realisation of this system proved to be a true feat without exaggeration... The challenge lay in the fact that 5 moulds still had to be made in China and the prototype had to be translated into a pilot series. And that just before Chinese New Year; a period when Chinese people all over the world return home to be with their families. Production would then be guaranteed to be ‘flat’.

Customer involved in production process in China

To ensure that the mission would succeed, the customer was invited to attend the test spraying in China. This way, he could directly indicate whether everything went according to plan and take decisions if necessary. Thanks to the enormous commitment, knowledge and experience of VDL Kunststoffen employees, the tight deadline was met with flying colours, followed by a pilot project in the Eindhoven region. Several farmers tested the new Fittra feeding systems and the modifications were implemented in VDL Kunststoffen's tool shop.

Many satisfied users

Meanwhile, VDL Kunststoffen looks back on this top performance with a particularly good feeling. The many thousands of ‘Fittra pans’ that have since been released in countries such as China and Russia testify to the fact that the poultry industry is more than satisfied with the Fittra system.

Nice detail

Robert Lanning from Devon the winner of ‘Poultry farmer of the year’, recently chose the Fittra system. He applies the Fittra system to furnish his new barn according to the animal-friendly Freedom Food concept.
